FAQ (Frequently asked questions about laser treatments)
Can I have laser hair removal treatments?
Laser hair surgery is ideal for most people and all skin types. Like we said earlier, it does work best on dark hair with medium or thick density.
That being said, there are some certain medications that will prevent you from having the treatment as will tattoos on the area you wish to remove hair from. It also may not be for you if you have particularly dark skin, because of how the laser works.
However, it doesn't rule it out for you if you do. Before we book you in for laser hair removal, we conduct a thorough consultation over the phone followed by a patch test at our clinic. That way, we can learn more about you and advise on your suitability for the treatment.
Do I need to prepare for the treatment?
Yes please! Before the laser treatment you'll have to cleanly shave the area at least 24 hours prior. Manual razors are better than electric ones because they cut hairs shorter. Please don't wax, pluck or tweeze the area beforehand - the laser will remove the hair follicle much better than any of those, so please shave only.
The skin you want the hair removed from will also need to be clean and bare; that means no makeup, fake tanning products, lotion, suncream or deodorant. The laser is a heat source that uses pigment to do its thing -- we don’t want you getting burnt during our treatments.
Please also keep the area that is going to be treated out of heavy sun four weeks before the treatment.
Does it hurt?
Not a bit! Our smart diode machine is state of the art and gives our clients an entirely painless experience. You'll feel only a gentle warmth on the skin when it takes place.
How will my skin be after the treatment?
Your skin should feel completely normal once the treatment finishes.
To give you the best results, we'd strongly suggest staying away from gyms, saunas and taking very hot showers. The reason for this is because heat stays on your skin for 24 hours, and anything that raises your temperature higher can make you prone to spots and for bacteria to build up on the body.
Do I need to grow out my hair first?
Shaving the hairs on the parts of the body that are being treated is required, but the follicle needs to stay so the laser can get to work on it.
Can laser treatments be done anywhere on the body?
Absolutely! Even the sensitive areas
Laser hair removal can be done on:
- Arms
- Arm pits
- Legs
- Underarms
- Bikini line
- Chin & jawline
- Sideburns
What results can I expect?
Laser hair removal gives amazing results! A single treatment can bring about a reduction in hair growth by up to 20%. More sessions (6-8) will be needed for complete removal as every hair will need to be targeted during the active phase. After this, you can expect reduction rate to soar to an incredible 90%
Is laser hair treatment suitable for men ?
It absolutely is. Where hair grows, the laser goes.
